FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you require a vaccine record?

Up to date vaccinations are a vital preventative measure against contagious diseases. Having a copy of your current vaccine on record will minimize the risk of disease transmission, protecting the health of all animals in our care and safeguards the wellbeing of our dedicated staff. Please be curteous to our staff should you be asked to provide or if you have provided an updated record, as we often wait until your drop-off date to print your new record. We are committed to providing pet owners a peace of mind knowing their beloved companions are safe in our facility.

Do you have a restricted breed list?

King William Pet Resort takes pride in not restricting any breeds from boarding at our facility. In the interest of our staffs safety, we reserve the right to ask any additional questions about your dogs behavioral history and breed type. We will also request an additional emergency contact in the event that your dog needs to be picked up before the end of their planned stay for any reason.

Why can aggressive dogs not share the same run even if they are from the same household?

While we pride ourselves on having no breed restrictions, food aggression instances can occur in certain breeds when they share the same run even when from the same household. It is at the discretion of our staff to separate dogs from the same household if something like this occurs. You will be notified if this happens, and you will be charged the full price of an additional run. It is your responsibility to clearly communicate if your dogs have ever demonstrated certain behaviors before releasing them into our care to keep them safe during their stay.

Do I need stay for my pets groom?

Every pet is a unique case, and we leave it to our professional staff to decide if your presence is needed for the duration of their groom. If we are grooming your cat, we will ask that you remain present at least for the start of the groom. For dogs, please remain available by phone should our groomer need to reach out and ask clarifying questions, or update you on the status of the groom.

How much will my groom cost?

It depends on the service you choose, your pets coat, and size. If your pets coat is not in good condition, the cost of your groom can increase. DE-matting is very labor intensive, and to do it effectively without irritating your pets skin takes products, time, skill and patience. Additionally other add-ons such as flea treatments and tooth brushing will increase the overall price of your groom. We do our best to stay transparent with you about the cost of the groom during consultation when you come in for your service.

Where will my dog stay during boarding?

Our runs are climate controlled year round. Boarding dogs stay in individual runs with a doggie door that leads to an outdoor run, allowing them to go in and out as they choose. Dogs are let out periodically during the day in one of our 3 large play yards alone, or under supervised group play with dogs of similar size and temperament.

Will my dog play with other dogs?

Owners are given the option at drop off to allow their dogs to play with other dogs of similar size and temperament or alone. All group play is supervised. Dogs that are not spayed / neutered, or considered aggressive will not participate in group play and be let out by themselves.

My pet is on medication, what should I bring?

We know that medication regimens can be stressful when boarding. To make their stay comfortable, we ask that you please bring their medication separate from their food, with detailed instructions for administration. We suggest you bring "pill pockets" as well to encourage your pet to take their medication without much fuss. Additionally, please inform us if the medication needs to be refrigerated.

Should I bring a bed and blanket from home?

We suggest bringing a blanket from home for their first or second stay as it can help ease anxiety of a new environment. A blanket from home is not necessary, and we provide plenty of blankets, bowls, and bedding. If you do bring a blanket from home, please note that we may be unable to wash it before you pick up your pet.

What if I forget to bring my pets food?

In the case that you forget to bring your dogs food for their stay, we provide a house food for them. Please be aware that sudden dietary changes can lead to a higher chance GI distress and / or diarrhea. If your dog has a sensitive stomach or allergies, you will be responsible for the full cost of the brand of food your dog requires, plus an additional 50$ pick up charge.

Can I book online?

At this time, no. We are only able to book over the phone or via email. We are working hard towards going digital in the future, and we appreciate your understanding.
